What do you buy for the special person in your life who loves peaty whisky?  The peatiest whisky in the world of course.  The fact that it completes the series from the Bruichladdich distillery of which we already have 2, is just the cherry on the cake.  I bought John a bottle of Octomore Scottish Barley for a special occasion.  I can’t even remember what the special occasion was.  Might have been a wedding anniversary to reward him for surviving with me for another year.  😆  John loves peat!  I have a sweeter palate and prefer my peat with some sweeter notes.

At the end of 2016, John came home with this bottle of Port Charlotte Special Reserve Private Cask bottling. It is 10 yo matured in Sherry Casks. He received it as a gift from one of his colleagues. FC knows how much we love whisky and arranged us this bottle.

top 5 single malts

A couple of days ago, a friend asked for some advice. She needed to buy whisky as a gift but did not know where to start. Walking into a bottle store can be a daunting experience. The sheer volume of products available make choosing tough. And knowing what whisky is worth buying within a smallish budget can be doubly difficult. And she needed to impress with something exceptional.
