Situated on the A81 in Scotland, next to a beautiful wooded area, the Glengoyne distillery sits at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill near Loch Lomond. The distillery was started in 1833 and was known as the Burnfoot Distillery. It changed owners and names a few times, however it has been one of the longest continuously run distilleries in Scotland.

A cold front is sweeping over South Africa. Temperatures have fallen dramatically and all thoughts of hot summer days have been eliminated by the rain, cold wind and dreary weather. The days are short and it gets dark early. There is more rain predicted for some parts and even a bit more snow expected.
On the 26th of May, my little whisky blog was 2 years old. And what a wonderful 2 years it has been. This post looks back at the last 2 years. My first blog post was about the arrival of the Bruichladdich Laddie. The first tasting notes we captured were for the Three Ships Single Malt from South Africa.
Every year, for the last 5 years, on New Years Eve we do a Whisky Chocolate Pairing. The process starts in November when we start looking around for interesting chocolates. When we have found some, we try to match the tasting notes of the chocolate with the tasting notes of the whisky.
