During my trip to Scotland in August, I had the pleasure of visiting the Loch Lomond distillery in the Scottish Highlands. After an informative tour, we were treated to a tasting session with Gary Mills, where we sampled some outstanding drams. One of the highlights was the Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 year old “Smoke and Spice” single malt Scotch whisky.

The Loch Lomond Group operates Loch Lomond distillery at Alexandria in Dunbartonshire and Glen Scotia distillery in the Argyllshire port of Campbeltown.

During my visit to the Loch Lomond distillery in August, I had the opportunity to taste a variety of exceptional drams. One of the ranges I was particularly eager to try was the relatively new Noble Rebel blended malt Scotch whisky line, released by Loch Lomond in 2023. This range includes three expressions: Noble Rebel Orchard Outburst, Hazelnut Harmony, and Smoke Symphony whisky.
Continuing with my notes from the Loch Lomond distillery visit, I’m diving into the Loch Lomond Steam and Fire single malt Scotch whisky today.
Peated whisky is a divisive topic—some adore it, while others find it overwhelming. When I started drinking whisky, I could not appreciate the heavily peated drams. But as I explored more, I began to appreciate the earthy, smoky complexity they offer.
I opened this bottle a few months ago but have been too busy to accurately capture the deliciousness of the Loch Lomond Buitenverwachting single malt 6 year old whisky. Let me say this upfront: It was the best whisky I have tasted in many, many months.
