What is a Mint Julep

A mint julep is essentially a cocktail with a sweet portion, and a mint element mixed with a whiskey base and ice.

Best whiskey to use?

Because the bourbon is the star of the show, you want to use a good quality  whiskey.

Mint Julep Recipe

– 2 oz bourbon  – 8 mint leaves plus extra sprigs for garnish – 1/2 oz simple syrup – Crushed ice

Lightly muddle the mint leaves and the simple syrup. Add the bourbon.  Fill the glass with crushed ice. Stir gently. Garnish with the extra sprig of mint and add a straw.
