Whisky Comparisons

Occasionally, over weekends, I have fun with side-by-side whiskey (or whisky) comparisons. I see what bottles are open, and I try them next to each other. You sometimes get a very different view of a whiskey when comparing it directly with another.

Especially if you compare similar releases from different distilleries, such as the Woodford Reserve Rye against the Bulleit Rye whiske. Or a 12 year old blend against a 12 year old single malt such as the Chivas Regal 12 vs Glenfiddich 12 year old whisky.

My Top Whiskey Comparisons

1. Johnnie Walker Black vs Double Black Label Whisky

The Double Black is bold, vibrant and luxurious,  a more grown-up version of the Black Label whisky. The Johnnie Walker Black Label is like an old friend that pops around anytime and is always welcome.
Both of these are excellent blended whiskies. Which one do I prefer in my glass?

2. Chivas 12 vs Johnnie Walker Black Label Whisky

In the world of premium whisky, few names shine as brightly as Chivas Regal and Johnnie Walker Black Label. These 12 yo classics share a common origin, originating in grocery stores, and have garnered devoted followings worldwide. How do they stack up against each other?

3. Glenfiddich 12 yo and the Singleton 12 yo whisky

There are many distinctive flavours to enjoy in the world of Speyside whisky, a region renowned for its fruity, nutty, and honeyed sweetness. Nestled within this whisky-rich landscape are two notable distilleries, located just a stone’s throw from each other and offering their own unique takes on the revered 12 yo single malt category. How do they taste when you enjoy them next to each other?

4. Evan Williams vs Jim Beam Bourbon

Two of the most famous bourbon whiskey brands on the market are Jim Beam and Evan Williams. These Kentucky Straight bourbons are available in many countries around the world. Both brands have histories that date back a long time. But if you can get only one bottle, which bottle is worth buying?

5. Woodford Reserve Rye vs Jack Daniel’s Rye

This has probably been one of my favourite comparisons. I like both these rye’s, and to make sure we don’t get influenced by our preconceived ideas, we did a blind comparison. See which one was my favourite of these two rye whiskies.

6. Buffalo Trace vs Woodford Reserve Bourbon

A Saceraz vs Brown-Forman Corporation bourbon comparison. The Buffalo Trace vs Woodford Reserve bourbon. Which one is best?
